Delicious Autumn!

Autumn, by George Henry Boughton. English-born American Painter, (1833-1905)

"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns."
- George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans)

I am so glad Autumn is finally on it's way! I adore everything about this harvest season! The sights, colors, smells and tastes are delicious!

What is your favorite thing about autumn?
Is autumn your favorite season or do you prefer a different time of year?

  2. That painting is so beautiful! I wish Autumn looked like this where I lived. Unfortunately most of our nearby trees and shrubs are Evergreen (keep their leaves throughout all the seasons) but I do love autumn. At the moment here in Australia we are in Spring and I must say that seeing all the beautiful flowers pop up all around makes me quite cheery.

  3. Definitely fall as my favorite season, it has a feeling that comes with it that I marvel at every year. but I like all the seasons to much to really have a favorite one.
I really like the smells and the colors of autumn that smokey smell that hangs in the crisp air, and the hues of red, orange, yellow, here in connecticut it gets very colorful.

  4. I love that painting!
I like autumn. I think it's my favorite season. It's warm but cooler than summer and the leaves turn colors. You can wear a sweater or a sweatshirt as a coat and still be warm. Hot chocolate is great but not a necessity. Plus my birthday is in November. :)

  5. I've always loved Autumn. The air turns crisp and cool. I start thinking about pumpkin recipes and using the crock pot more. I pull out my lightweight sweaters, shawls, and scarves. However, I live in South Texas and Autumn has yet to stay here. Ah....I can still dream of the change of the seasons. :)

  6. You always seem to find the best paintings! I love this one! I do like autumn, and especially if it's as sunny as we've been having this last week. But my favourite season is spring: nature changing with every day, I love that!
