It's been quite a few months since I've mentioned much related to my personal life but I now have a delicious piece of news to share with you all!
First, a word from Jane Austen:
(because no post is quite the same without her!)
"Emma," said Mr. Knightley presently, "I have a piece of news for you. You like news -- and I heard an article in my way hither that I think will interest you."
"News! Oh! yes, I always like news. What is it? why do you smile so? where did you hear it? at Randalls?"
- Jane Austen's Emma, Chapter 21
"I have something to tell you, Emma; some news."
"Good or bad?" said she, quickly, looking up in his face.
"I do not know which it ought to be called."
"Oh! good I am sure. I see it in your countenance. You are trying not to smile."
- Jane Austen's Emma, Chapter 54
I love those quotes and they just popped into my head on this occasion. :)
And now back to my news! :)
Yes Emma, it is exciting news! |
Back in February my dad followed the Lord's leading and applied for a computer job with Answers In Genesis ministries in Kentucky. After quite a lengthy interview process, and lots of prayer from us, my dad was offered the job! Although our family had been talking about the possibility of moving throughout the process we tried not to get too excited because we weren't at all sure dad would get the job. We were totally blow away when they told us and so excited! This is such a huge blessing from the Lord and the blessings have continue to pour in since dad officially accepted the job on Monday.
In the month ahead there will be a lot to do with packing here, finding a house there and moving. But we know God is faithful and will continue to help and guide us as we make this move. Right now we're planning to leave Maine the weekend of June 9th, travel to Kentucky and unload our moving truck during the following week.
So, what this means for me and Old-Fashioned Charm is that posts will be less frequent than usual as I help my family with all the busyness of a move. But never fear, I will by no means be disappearing from the blogging world, I'll still be around commenting on other people's blogs and posting here when I'm able to.
I'd really appreciate your prayers for me and my family over the next several weeks. Thanks for letting me ramble on a bit. I just had to share this delightful piece of news with all of you! :)
A very happy May everyone!
Very Truly Your's,
That is wonderful news! When God answers prayers, sparks fly. I know all your devoted readers will pine for every cherished post!
ReplyDeleteWow! Moving is such an adventure, though I must say I think I've had enough of it for a while:-) I will be praying for you during this busy time!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Lauren
How exciting! Praise the Lord that your dad has found this wonderful job! I'll be keeping your whole family in prayer as you prepare to move-- I know how much of a hassle that can be (having moved six times n my life, heehee). This is so exciting and I'm so happy for you, Miss Laurie!!!
ReplyDeleteJen,
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you! It's true, when God started answering the answers came very quickly!
Lauren,
Thank you for your prayers! I moved a lot when I was younger but it's been a while since our family has done this type of big move and relocation so it's a little bit tougher.
Miss Dashwood,
Six times is a lot of moving, was that to different states or just different houses in the same state? I've moved around the state of Maine many times and we relocated to NC for a while when I was 13yo but we've never been to Kentucky. Thank you for your prayers m'dear! :)
Wow! How totally cool! I must let you know if we're ever down there...would be great to meet you. :) And it's on our list of places to go! :D Very excited for you! :) <3
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! :) I will keep you and your family in my prayers as you all prepare to move and get settled in a new place...new place for new adventures. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's great news!
ReplyDeleteI've moved around growing up too because of my dad's job. Now we've lived in Maryland for 14 years.
Hope the move goes smoothly! Oh, you can never have too many boxes, markers, and tape!
Congratulations! :) How exciting that your dad gets to work for such a wonderful company.
ReplyDeleteI'll also be keeping you and your family in my prayers as you adjust to all of the changes. Are you very far inland in Maine? I was just thinking that if you're near the coast, that will be a huge difference in climate and terrain in Kentucky. :}
Wishing you all of God's best!
Congrats! I'm so happy for your family! Prayers sent your way so everything will go as smoothly as possible!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Kentucky is a beautiful state!
