“The bell at the gate had scarcely sounded when Mr. Meagles came out to receive them. Mr. Meagles had scarcely come out, when Mrs. Meagles came out. Mrs. Meagles had scarcely come out, when Pet came out. Pet had scarcely come out, when Tattycoram came out. Never had visitors a more hospitable reception.”
~ Charles Dickens, Little Dorrit
Have you read Little Dorrit?
I am currently reading Little Dorrit! I'm about halfway through, and I'm enjoying it so far. It's funny, because I have a book blog, and I have been putting quotes up as I read the book, and this quote is one of the ones I recently selected!
ReplyDelete(I really like your blog. I recently found it, and have enjoyed reading the posts, though I haven't commented until now.)
I started reading it once, but it was a library copy and soon had to be returned. Despite that, I didn't get very far into it, because it was so long it seemed daunting, and I just didn't get into the first couple chapters very well.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I do own it on my Nook, and I do plan on trying again.
Yes! I'm about 250 pages into it right now. First time read! Enjoying it a LOT. Just might become my favorite Dickens!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read it yet, but I'd really like to!! I loved the mini series! Right now, I'm actually in the middle of Nicholas Nickleby.
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of the book and intend on reading it in the near future.
