Period Drama Couples Quiz

This game idea was suggested by birdienl after I posted the Classic Literature In Other Words game back in July. Thanks birdienl!
The concept of this game is to identify the period drama couples based on the clues given. These couples are from various period dramas and classic literature stories. Some of these couples are not what you might call main characters but all of them get engaged and/or married during the course of their story.
I have a long list of couples so I chose randomly for this game. Let me know if you like this type of game and I'll do others.

To Play: Read the clues below and leave a comment guessing which period drama couple I'm thinking of and which period drama or story they come from. Guess as many times as you wish. I'll respond with your score. The answers will be posted next Saturday.

Scoring: Four points for each correctly guessed gentleman, lady and period drama (or classic story). A total score of 180 points can be earned.

Couple Clues:

Couple #1. Honorable but shy gentleman / Reserved and practical young woman

Couple #2. Literary tomboy / European professor

Couple #3. Scholarly scientist explorer / Caring physician's daughter

Couple #4. Noble lady who keeps many secrets / Her father's new heir presumptive

Couple #5. Long reigning monarch / Princely cousin

Couple #6. Advertising governess / Master with great secrets and no beauty

Couple #7. Kindly sister and as beautiful as an angel / Handsome friendly gentleman

Couple #8. Studious blind-sighted clergyman / Sweet and gentle cousin

Couple #9. Kind gentleman who seeks his origins / Depressed opera singer he rescues

Couple #10. Young upstart with high hopes / Beautiful trained enchantress

Couple #11. High-spirited jumping girl / Melancholic poetical sailor

Couple #12. Fiery Italian youth / There is the east and she is the sun

Couple #13. Money loving socialite / Mysterious secretary

Couple #14. Physician with red cutaway / Angelic clergyman's daughter

Couple #15. Poor newspaper journalist / Sister-in-law of a foolish man

Happy guessing!

9- Daniel Deronda and Mirah... oh dear.. Lapidoth? Ladipoth? One of those. Haven't seen Daniel Deronda, so I'm not quite sure.
10- Pip and Estella (Great Expectations).

Your guesses on couples 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14 were completely correct. You also guessed the correct couple on #13 but forgot to mention the title of the period drama they come from (I know you know it though).
    Your score is 152 points.

You would know #15 because I know you've seen it. You probably wouldn't know #4 because I know you haven't seen it.
