The object of this game is to correctly identify the actors pictured below and name a few of the many period dramas they have starred in! Don't worry, there's only eight actors this time and they should be fairly familiar to most of you! :)
To Play: Guess what each actor's name is and name as many period dramas that they have starred in as you can remember without looking up answers. I've given you hints by telling how many period dramas before or after a certain date they have been in (these are also films I've seen and can recommend). Leave your guesses in a comment. Guess as many times as you wish. Answers will be posted next Saturday.
Scoring: 5 points each for correctly naming a period drama actor. 5 points for each correctly named period drama you name. Note: No extra points for naming more than the amount of films I've mentioned. Highest score to be earned is 245 points.

Hmm... that's all I can think of for now. I love playing your games every week, Miss Laurie! Thanks for posting!
Hello Miss Laurie! What a lovely game! You are so very clever:)
ReplyDelete#1 Judi Dench! Oh dear me, I can only think of three films since 2000! Ladies in Lavender, Pride and Prejudice, and Cranford. Was The Importance of Being Earnest made before 2000? I am inclined to think so (but of course I will not cheat and skip over to IMDB!)
#2 Alun Armstrong- Bleak House, Little Dorrit, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Oliver Twist, Oliver Twist...oh dear, I suppose that's all I can think of!
#3 Anna Maxwell Martin- Becoming Jane, Bleak House and North and South.
#4 Hugh Bonneville- Daniel Deronda, Lost in Austen, Mansfield Park, Miss Austen Regrets...does Downton Abbey count?
#5 Keeley Hawes- Wives and Daugters, Our Mutual Friend, Under the Greenwood Tree, Upstairs Downstairs, and I'm sure I don't know what the last one is.
#6 Tom Hiddleston- it's a wonder I even know this man's name! Cranford is all I know him from.
#7 Matthew McFadyen! Pride and Prejudice, Little Dorrit....
#8 Romola Garai- Amazing Grace, Daniel Deronda, Angel (ugh!), Emma, Nicholas Nickleby. She is one of my very favourites! Also, with all due respect, I have seen you(among others)spell her name 'Ramola' before, when really, it's spelled 'Romola'. Please know that I say this with the greatest of respect!
Again, delightful game!
#1: Judi Dench - let's see...she was in The Importance of Being Earnest, Pride & Prejudice, Cranford, Return to Cranford
ReplyDelete#2: Alun Armstrong - Little Dorrit, The Mystery of Edwin Drood,
#3: Anna Maxwell Martin - Bleak House, North & South,
#4: Hugh Bonneville - Daniel Deronda, Downton Abbey,
#5: Keeley Hawes - Wives & Daughters, Our Mutual Friend, Under the Greenwood Tree
#6: HIDDLESSSSS *ahem* Tom Hiddleston - RETURN TO Cranford,
#7: Matthew Macfadyen (had to look up the spelling on his last name...) - Little Dorrit, Pride & Prejudice, The Way We Live Now
#8: Romola Garai - Emma, Daniel Deronda, Amazing Grace,
I'll come back to the rest ;)
Yay! I actually recognize all the actors and actresses! :)
ReplyDelete1. Judi Dench. Cranford, Return to Cranford? Pride & Prejudice.
2. Name: ? Little Dorrit, Eragon (does that count as a period drama?)
3. Name: ?. Bleak House
4. Hugh Bonneville. Downtown Abbey
5. Keeley Hawes. Upstairs, Downstairs, Wives & Daughters.
6. Tom Hiddleston. Return to Cranford? War Horse.
7. Matthew MacFadyen. Little Dorrit, Pride & Prejudice.
8. Name: Romola Garai? Haha, I may be way off, but I remember it was a rather unusual name. Emma.
First of all -- the Horrible Histories reference at the end made me very happy indeed. :D
ReplyDeleteNow to attempt the game!
1- Judi Dench. Cranford, Return to Cranford, The Importance of Being Earnest, Pride and Prejudice. As for the other two... ummmmm? (Oh, and this wasn't made after 2000, but I just thought I could point out that she starred as Lady Macbeth alongside Ian McKellen in the 80's... and she's SO CREEPY in that movie. It's weird to see Miss Matty being this bloodthirsty murderess. :P)
2- Alun Armstrong, the face of Dickens!! David Copperfield, one version of Nicholas Nickleby (I think), Little Dorrit, Bleak House, The Mystery of Edwin Drood...
3- Anna Maxwell Martin (such a pretty picture of her, by the way!). Bleak House, North and South and Becoming Jane.
4- Hugh Bonneville. Daniel Deronda, The Way We Live Now?, Downton Abbey
5- Keeley Hawes. Upstairs/Downstairs, Our Mutual Friend (currently watching this and LOVING it!), Wives and Daughters, The Moonstone. Was she on Downton as well? Oh, dear, I don't know...
6- Why do I not have a surprised feeling at seeing this fellow in the list? ;) It's Tom Hiddleston, of course. Nicholas Nickleby, Miss Austen Regrets, Return to Cranford, and The Hollow Crown (heehee, had no problem with THAT list. :P)
7- Matthew Macfadyen. Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, Little Dorrit, The Three Musketeers and... does Anna Karenina count? Because it was filmed in 2011 to the best of my knowledge... or are you going by the release date?
8- Romola Garai. Emma, Daniel Deronda, Amazing Grace annnnnnnd I'm stuck. :P
Fun game! :D
31 is Dame Judi Dench. I can think of "Pride and Prejudice" and "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" and "Jane Eyre" for her.
ReplyDelete#6 is Tom Hiddleston. I can think of "Henry V" and "War Horse" and "Midnight in Paris" for him.
#7 is Matthew MacFadyen. I only know of "Pride & Prejudice" and that awful "Three Musketeers" before 2012, and then "Anna Karenina" was in 2012, but I don't know if that counts?
Several other faces are familiar, but I can't recall names, oh well.
1. Dame Judi Dench: Cranford, Return to Cranford, The Importance of Being Earnest, Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre

2. Alun Armstrong - David Copperfield, Bleak House, Little Dorrit, The Mysteries of Edwin Drood, some version of Oliver Twist--well actually he was in two, but I don't remember the years and whether they were before 1998 or not. Also... well, if Les Mis counts. :P
3. Anna Maxwell Martin - North & South, Bleak House, Becoming Jane
4. Hugh Bonneville - Daniel Deronda, Miss Austen Regrets, Lost in Austen, Downton Abbey; I think there might be something I should know but am forgetting...
5. Keeley Hawes - Well, the five I think if would be Wives & Daughters, The Moonstone, Our Mutual Friend, Under the Greenwood Tree and Upstairs, Downstairs.
6. Tom Hiddleston - Miss Austen Regrets, Return to Cranford... was it Henry V I heard he was in? And I don't know what else. :P Should I?
7. Matthew MacFadyen - P&P05, The Way We Live Now, Little Dorrit... um, maybe The Three Musketeers? Dunno if that counts. And I can't think of anything elllllse...
Romola Garai - Wait, only five? Okay, well, let's say: Nicholas Nickleby, Daniel Deronda, Vanity Fair, Amazing Grace, As You Like It, and of course EMMA.
Fun! :)
#1...should know...AH! It's Miss Mattie from Cranford! Aka Judi Dench. Aka Lady Catherine (P&P 05).

#7 - Matthew Macfadyen. P&P 05, Little Dorrit, Three Musketeers.

I'm not sure about #2 but #3 is Anna Maxwell Martin, she play's on North and South as well as Bleak House. #5 is Keeley Hawes and she play's in one of my favorite's Wives and Daughters also Under the Greenwood tree. But I haven't seen that many period drama's so that's all I know!
