Elizabeth Gaskell Unscramble Puzzles
Joining my favorites authors is Victorian author Mrs. Elizabeth Gaskell who was a contemporary of Charles Dickens and Charlotte Bronte.
Her thoughtful and well told tales are filled with humorous characters of small English village but also speak of the social changes and problems.
Here are some puzzles for you to unscramble, puzzles are the names of characters and novels from Mrs. Gaskell's works.
Put your guesses in a comment below. I'll respond telling how many you got right. Guess as many times as you wish.

This was a delightful game! I love Elizabeth Gaskell's work. Wives and Daughters is probably my favorite.
Just one thing I should point out--to the best of my memory (and to the best of what I can find on Wikipedia, LOL) Harry Gregson was a character created for the Cranford movie. As far as I can remember, he doesn't appear in any of the three novels that the film was based on.
(I could be wrong, though.)

Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteAll nine of your complete guesses were correct! Your half guesses on #4 and #10 were also correct. Your guess on #3 was incorrect. Good job, especially for not knowing very many of them! :)
Melody,
ReplyDeleteAll thirteen of your guesses were correct! Await your guesses for #8 and #11 which are a bit tricky. You might not get #11 but then again you might. :)
As soon as you said I might not get 11, I had to check back and see what it was. I think I got it. Is it 'My Lady Ludlow"? And I'll have to do 8 later. :P
ReplyDeleteMelody,
ReplyDeleteWow! You got #11! Was that my fault? ;)
Oh no, I'll simply HAVE to watch some more of her works and rewatch what I have seen just so that I can participate. So sad, so very sad. I'll have to brew a pot of tea and start immediately!
ReplyDelete8: Is it 'Dr Frank Harrison'?
ReplyDeleteHaha, well, I may not be much of a Gaskell reader as of yet, but I have done a little research. =) However I suppose your saying I might not get 11 was a good prompting.
Um #15 is North and South? #9 is John Thorton?
ReplyDeleteMelody,

Christine,
ReplyDeleteGood job with your guesses! You guessed all fifteen correctly!
Livia,
ReplyDeleteYour ten guesses were all correct! Good work for not knowing that much about Elizabeth Gaskell.

Elizabeth Gaskell is one of my favorite authoresses. Her works remind somewhat of Jane Austen.
Sarah Grace
Sarah Grace of In His Wings,
ReplyDeleteGood job! All fourteen of your guesses were correct!
I don't know if you noticed but I put definite breaks in the puzzles to denote how many letters are in each word. In Puzzle #8 there are 2 letters in the first word, 5 letters in the second word and 8 letters in the third word. Maybe this clue will help. :)
