Austenland (2013) Trailer & Clips!

There's been a lot of publicity lately about the new film Austenland (2013) based on the book by Shannon Hale. I haven't read the book so am not exactly sure whether to recommend it or the film but the whole idea of a Jane Austen fan going to a Regency themed resort sounds hilarious. The film is rated PG-13 so there will be some language and maybe some innuendo that won't be appropriate for young viewers.

Storyline: Austenland is a romantic comedy about 30-something, single Jane Hayes, a seemingly normal young woman with a secret: her obsession with Mr. Darcy-as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice-is ruining her love life; no real man can compare. But when she decides to spend her life savings on a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-crazed women, Jane's fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become more real than she ever could have imagined.

This looks like a really fun/funny movie from the pictures. :) So many neat people from other movies - I would love to see Jane Seymour in something else!

I started to read the book last year, but I stopped not too far into it. There were, indeed, some objectionable things. That's not to say, however, that the movie will be the same... Though the pg-13 rating doesn't give me much hope for that. Still, I'm willing to give the movie a fair shot. :-)

I am a HUGE fan of Shannon Hale, but I didn't care so much for this book. It had some funny parts, but also a lot of not-so-okay parts in it as well. However, I'd still be willing to watch the movie...on clearplay, of course :) The films stills look very fun- and it has several great actors/actresses in it!

This is exciting!

I read the book a few years ago and from what I remember, it was pretty clean. I really enjoyed the story too.

I adore both Keri Russel and Jane Seymour and I'm glad they'll be in the film!

Figwit. Just.....Figwit. Mindblown.

Actually, it looks like one of those movies that will end up being either really cute and nice or just annoying and terrible. We shall see, no?

I am hopefully optimistic for the movie. I tried the book....Should have stopped reading way before I did!....I tried skipping to see who she ended up with......Bad idea as I am still scarred. :).....

Thank you very much! I'll watch it, no doubt! And I love the idea about Jane Austen resort. I haven't read the book yet, but now i'm eager to read it. Jane Seymour is so wonderful! I love her in "Somewhere in Time". When i was a child, Doctor Quinn M. W. was my favourite :)

Oh, it looks...dreadful, pardon me for saying so. I haven't actually read the book, but I examined it (which means I looked it over and read bits and pieces to form a general opinion of it) and I have pronounced it rubbish, so I am not at all surprised that this is what the movie looks like. And Jane Seymour is in it?? Is THAT what she's doing these days? My, how sad.
The whole story, I feel, is extremely mediocre, and not at all respectful to Pride and Prejudice and Mr. Darcy and especially Jane Austen. It seems like Jane is an over-obsessed fan who takes Pride and Prejudice (and all of Miss austen's novels) for something they're not, and making herself look extremely foolish because of the severity of her obsession. But that's just my opinion.

JJ Field's voice should be patented. It's so awesome. :)

They had me at J.J. Field and Jane Seymour. I'm not expecting it to be great, just hoping it will be fun :-D

Jane Seymour is back! And did anyone else see the cell phones and camera? :D too funny.

I'm not sure if I will see the movie or not. I'll probably read a review or two and go from there.

IAMSOSEEINGTHISWHENITCOMESOUT.

Because of Jane Seymour, of course. ;)

Seriously, I'm no Jane Austen fanatic (which judging from other comments may be a good thing going into this :)), but this looks right up my alley. The trailer looks hilarious! Definitely putting this on my to-view list. :)

It is such a shame you haven't seen the film! It actually isn't like that at all. True, it does initially give that impression, but I think you would be pleasantly surprised if you see past the first 20 minutes or so!
