Not What These Hands have Done
I love the words of this old hymn that is sung by Nathan Clark George on his CD Rise in the Darkness. If you haven't heard of NCG check out his music filled with poignant lyrics and Biblical truth. Hope you've had a blessed weekend!
Not What These Hands have Done
by Horatius Bonar, 1808-1899
1. Not what these hands have done
Can save this guilty soul;
Not what this toiling flesh has borne
Can make my spirit whole.
2. Not what I feel or do
Can give me peace with God;
Not all my prayers and sighs and tears
Can bear my awe-full load.
3. Thy work alone, O Christ,
Can ease this weight of sin;
Thy blood alone, O Lamb of God,
Can give me peace within.
4. Thy love to me, O God,
Not mine, O Lord to Thee,
Can rid me of this dark unrest
And set my spirit free.
5. Thy grace alone, O God,
To me can pardon speak;
Thy power alone, O Son of God,
Can this sore bondage break.
6. I bless the Christ of God,
I rest on love divine,
And with unfaltering lip and heart
I call this Savior mine.

Beautiful hymn Laurie! Thanks for sharing! We truly have an awesome God who showers us with his grace, mercy, and love. Though we can't earn his grace, and we don't deserve any of his blessings... He freely paid the price on our behalf.... I'm glad I'm your sister in Christ! I hope you have a blessed day!
Amen~
this is one of my favorites!!
Love~ Jen
Guess I did something wrong...my comment didn't make it. So here goes again.
The hymn is beautiful as are most.
I still wish that women dressed the way they are in your pictures on this blog. I think they are wonderfully dressed.
