Happy Birthday dear Miss Potter! It's the 145th anniversary of her birth!
Beatrix Potter was a staple in my home growing up. We always had the books, videos of the books and audio versions of the books to listen to. When my younger sister was born she was given the middle name Beatrix (actually to honor my father's great-aunt Beatrice) her nursery was decorated with Peter Rabbit and his pals. I had great fun in browsing through our set of 12 Beatrix Potter books, my favorite is still The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle [Read Online].

"Once upon a time there were four little Rabbits, and their names were - Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter. They lived with their Mother in a sand-bank, underneath the root of a very big fir-tree."
-The Tale of Peter Rabbit, Beatrix Potter [Read Online]

Enjoyed your post and all the Beatrix Potter quotes! I don't remember reading any of her books as a child but I bought all of them for my kids and we enjoyed them together. I'd have to say "The Tale of Tom Kitten" was our favorite. I also loved the Miss Potter film!

Laurie, I found your blog when you gave some "hearts" to Jane Austen items in my Etsy shop.

My praises to you for the excellent coverage of Beatrix Potter and her work in the birthday tribute! I posted a link to it from my wordpress blog.

I have not yet seen the film Miss Potter, but I as an illustrator myself, I am a great admirer of Beatrix Potter (and Jessie Wilcox Smith) as shining examples of success in illustration and publishing.

That is a wonderful picture of Squirrel Nutkin - always my favourite story of hers.
I haven't seen most of those pictures and paintings of Beatrix Potter before; you can see what a lovely person she must have been, especially in that last photograph.

I love your Blog and I very much appreciate your comment that you are "a 20-something modern day girl striving to live every day for the Lord Jesus Christ." I love the Lord too and long to please Him day by day.

I love all things Beatrix Potter and have been an avid collector of the Figurines which depict the characters in her famous Tales. I have a website - beatrix-potter-figurines.com which I describe as being the Definitive Guide to Beswick, Border Fine Arts and Royal Albert Beatrix Potter Figurines.

God Bless you in your efforts on this Blog
