Couples Of Period Dramas Blog Theme

Hello there! I'd like to introduce a new blog theme with header and photos on my sidebar based on some of my favorite couples from period dramas! I had lots of fun creating this new header, the only hard part was choosing which couples to use!

Couples In Header:
  • Sophy Hutton & Dr. Frank Harrison from Cranford
  • Livvy & Ray Singleton from The Magic Of Ordinary Days
  • Henry Tilney & Catherine Morland from Northanger Abbey (2007)
  • Marguerite St. Just & Sir Percy Blakeney from The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982)
  • Molly Gibson & Roger Hamley from Wives & Daughters
  • Danielle & Prince Henry from Ever After
  • Denise Lovett & John Moray from The Paradise (TV series)
  • Ella & Prince from Cinderella (2015)
  • Emma Woodhouse & Mr. Knightley from Emma (2009)
  • and of course Anne Eliot & Captain Wentworth from Persuasion (1995)

What do you think of the new theme?

New Blog Theme!

Elizabeth & Georgiana
Hi y'all! As you may have noticed I've switched up my blog theme! The theme this time comes from Death Comes To Pemberley (2013). As soon as I saw that gorgeous screencap of Mrs. Elizabeth Darcy in the drawing room at Pemberley I fell head over heels and knew it would make the perfect blog header. Death Comes To Pemberley is an exquisitely filmed piece of period drama and it was such fun browsing through screencaps and choosing the ones I've put on my sidebar. There's also a new comments button featuring Lady Catherine De Bourgh and a new blog button for you to use! Also scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the new banner I created featuring photos of Elizabeth and Darcy. All screencaps came from chrs_vg at Red Curtain, her work is lovely!

Lydia & Wickham

I loved my previous theme but it was time for a change. The last theme I'd had up since March 2013! I think that's the longest I've had the same theme on my blog! The theme was Downton Abbey and flowers.

Well, what do you think of the new theme?

Have you seen Death Comes To Pemberley? If you missed my review you can read it here.

Oh yes, and I have quite a few new signature buttons featuring various characters that I'll be using as well! :)

Spring Is In The Air!

I don't know about y'all but this year I am so glad that Spring is finally here! Spring means new growth and changes.

As you may have noticed Old-Fashioned Charm has undergone some major changes today! Take a few minutes and explore! :)

List of Changes:

  • There's a new decor to reflect spring that includes a new header, background, buttons on the side bar, Link to Me button and a new color scheme.
  • I've also changed OFC to just have one sidebar now and stripped away a lot of the clutter I had accumulated.
  • There is now a Links page featuring links to all my favorite blogs and website!
  • The Banners page has been updated to include extra special things with codes that you can use for your blog.
  • All of my lovely award buttons have been moved to my About Me page.
  • And you can now find My Blog Followers link at the bottom of the page.

I always like to take a few seconds to remember the last blog theme. Here's the one for January-February 2013:

My new header and comments button are photos from Downton Abbey Season One but I liked them mostly because they are just so English Rose and spring-y!

What do you think of the new design?

Are you able to find everything all right or is there something that's missing?

Winter 2013 Design

As December and Christmas have flown away, it seemed time for a new blog design. I was rather sad to loose the old theme as I was quite proud of it. :-(

Winter 2013 Design:
I'm currently reading The Secret Garden for the first time but the 1994 film adaptation has been a family favorite for a long time in my house. I loved the bleak Winter-ish feel at the beginning of the film, but there's always the hope of Spring. On the left hand sidebar are photos of Mary Lennox, Martha, Dickon and two comment buttons featuring Colin and Mrs. Medlock. The Secret Garden key is featured on the right hand sidebar. I've also made myself some new signature photos that you'll see popping up in the near future.

It's December! (New Blog Design)

December is here, which means Christmas is coming!
*runs around singing* "Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat, pleas put a penny in the old man's hat. If you haven't got a penny then a half penny will do, if you haven't got a half penny then God bless you!" :)

Ahem...so anyway, as I was saying Christmas is coming! Christmas means decorations and the very first thing I'm decorating is my blog! So, what do you think?
As promised the theme is The Young Victoria film which was the winner of the "What Should Be The Theme Of My Next Blog Design?" poll back in September.

Here are the header, background, comment button and blog button from this Autumn featuring an Anne of Avonlea theme.

Old-Fashioned Charm

For Christmas I've added a new header, new photos on the left sidebar, a new background, two new Christmas-y blog buttons and a The Young Victoria banner at the bottom of the main page. I'll also be using some new The Young Victoria signatures that I recently made.

What's coming is December at OFC? Well, I've got to keep come secrets to surprise ya'll with but I can promise Christmas music, book and film reviews and a very special something which is bound to be stupendously grand!   *claps hands* I am so very excited for all the festivities of the season! :D

New Autumn 2012 Header

Thank you all for voting in my poll What Should Be The Theme Of My Next Blog Design?, the votes have been tallied and the wining choice is:

The Young Victoria -- 22 votes

I know what you're thinking (because reading minds may or may not be among my many talents), you're saying to yourself: "Wait, so if The Young Victoria won then why is Miss Laurie's blog currently decorated in a delightful Anne of Green Gables theme?"
And, the answer to that is that although The Young Victoria did get 22 votes I had a difficult time finding photos from that film that were particularly Autumn-ish. So, since Anne of Green Gables came in a close second with 21 votes and I found tons of Anne of Avonlea (aka The Sequel) photos that were very Autumn-ish I decided to use that as a theme for now and make up a very special The Young Victoria theme for Christmastime!  So all you Queen Victoria and Price Albert fans will have to wait a little bit longer, but not too long! :)

I've even made a new blog button featuring Anne of Avonlea for ya'll to use if you wish. Find it below or on the right hand sidebar.
(The old Molly Gibson button can be found on the Blog Buttons page)

For memory's sake here is the previous header:

And the previous background image was this:

and this was my Please Comment button:

As I was gathering photos to make up this theme I couldn't help remembering how wonderful the Anne of Avonlea movie is (even if it isn't completely faithful to the books)!  Fond memories of watching both Anne movies with my mom, at least once a year, are still indelibly stamped on my mind and I still find myself getting teary-eyed just thinking about the sweetly sad scenes from both films.

This scene makes me teary-eyed every time!
What do you think of the new header, button, background and overall theme?

Are you a fan of the Megan Follows Anne of Green Gables movies? Do you have a favorite scene?
