The Bucket List Tag

Evie at A Period Drama Fangirl tagged me in The Bucket List Tag that was originally created by Elizabethany at An Accomplished Young Lady. I thought this was fun, especially as it is my birthday today and I'm thinking of all the things I still want to do someday.

Tag Rules:

  • List 10 or more items from you bucket list.
  • Tag 5 other people.

I Tag:
and anyone else who would like to do this tag!

My Bucket List
(well, some items from it!)

That means you my blogging buddy!

Visit Jane Auste's House in Chawton. I'd actually love to visit all the Jane Austen related places in England one day! Bath and Lyme Regis would be grand!

Happy Birthday Jane Austen!

Happy Birthday Dearest Jane!

Yes, it's Jane Austen's birthday again! This is her 238th birthday!
Last year I joined with my blogging friends for a grand and glorious Jane Austen Birthday Assembly. But this year I just don't have much time for anything, especially blogging. I have one week left and then I'm going back home to KY to see my family for Christmas!

So how am I celebrating Jane Austen's birthday today?

Well, I'm definitely having a cup of tea with my Gram. And I will serve it from a teapot. And there will probably be cookies! ;)

And I'll try and watch a Jane Austen adaptation tonight. Something short-ish or maybe I'll watch some clips of my favorites.

And I might take a little bit to continue my ongoing re-read of Pride and Prejudice.

And I might even:

Yeah, do the Mr. Collins wave at Gram, or maybe just the cat. Heehee!

And I am working on a post with photos and a video for the new BBC production of Death Comes To Pemberley! Lots of photos! :)

Oh, and I'm going to post this lovely quote photo that I vaguely remember making last year.

And that's about it for this year. I should be wearing my new Jane Austen shirt and my Janeite button, and doing other lovely JA themed things but since I've spent my day cleaning house, doing laundry, crocheting Christmas gifts and then will be making soup later, I guess a quiet Jane Austen celebration is best.

So how are you celebrating Jane Austen's birthday today?

Happy Birthday to Bea!

Today is a special day for my sweet sister Bea. Today she turns seventeen!

I was almost nine years old when Bea was born and I was so so excited to have a little sister! She was the cutest thing, my own real life baby doll and the bringer of joy in our family.

Bea has always been quite shy in public but at home she if the chattering life of our family, she's always making us smile!

She loves to bake, sew, crochet, snap photos, play with our cats and do anything fun.

Today Bea is my best friend and partner in crime. She is so talented and caring. We have so much fun together but also enjoy just talking about things too.

Happy Birthday Bea! I hope your day is as special as you are!

Happy 237th Birthday Jane Austen! - JABA

Old-Fashioned Charm
What is a fitting birthday wish for a 237-year-old authoress of great renown?
I'm not quite sure, but I thought it might be suitable this year not to rehash her whole life story but just to let her words speak to you.
For me these past few months Pinterest has been my one weakness and that is where I've found most of these lovelies!

I also found this lovely Jane Austen birthday cake:

Also, over the past few months I've been quite taken with these words by Jane:
The prayer above is part of a longer prayer written by Jane Austen and posted on the wall of All Saints Church in Steventon where her father and then brother both served as vicars. You can read An evening prayer "composed by my ever dear Sister Jane" at length.

I also saw this lovely letter at AustenBlog written by Jane Austen's brother Francis Austen "Frank" to an American fan in 1852 which tells about his memories of his sister. You can read the entire correspondence at Molland's!

Will you join me in wishing Jane Austen a very Happy Birthday?
Ready? 1 - 2 - 3
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANE AUSTEN!!!!

I'm not sure what I would give The Authoress. perhaps a new hat or another pretty clothing item. Perhaps a volume of poetry or an armful of blank journals for her to continue writing in!

Do you have any Jane Austen related plans today?

What gift would you give Jane?
