Merry Christmas To All!

Lately I've been contemplating Isaiah 9 where Jesus' birth is foretold and Luke 2 where his birth is accomplished. The similarity in wording between the two is amazing!

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this." - Isaiah 9:6-7

"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." - Luke 2:10-14

I pray that you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! As you celebrate may the love that God offers touch your heart.

Beautiful passages of the Bible! I just love the one from Isaiah. It reminds of Handel's Messiah every time I read it. ;-)
