Hi, Laurie :) I'm your new reader. Beautiful blog, bright and positive... I'm excited to discover it and to read that yours and mine 2 top favourite authors are the same! (Love Lady Agatha:)

Anyway, great post, so green, full of information and lovely pictures! and so many questions... =) I'm a little overwhelmed. I'm still busy trying to catch up with your older posts... a little upset that I joined too late to take Jane Austen quiz (I probably would score about 10 points :o) ) Today's quiz is too difficult for me, sorry. I'm only guessing that the author born in Ireland is O. Wilde (just finished "An Ideal Husband" haha)

Also, just finished big volume by Bronte sisters, and back to rereading Austen's novels, which I read in my native language about 6 years ago,.. now going to revise them in original) As I only have Sense and Sensibility & Pride and Prejudice fresh in my mind... And I can hardly be good at your quizzes.

No, no1 Irish in my family, nothing so exotic :o) Nothing special planned for today either :( Just enjoying weekend ...

Sorry for such a long post.
Thank you for your blog :)
Good Luck on St Patrick's day :)

Not sure about #3, 7, and 12, though my guess on the last is Northanger Abbey.

My mother's family immigrated to England from Cashel, Ireland in the 1840s.

I visited Dublin and the surrounding countryside (Tara and Newgrange) in 2009 with my then-16 year old daughter. I blogged a fair amount about our travels, and loved it. Would love to go back.

Favorite singers--I grew up listening to my mother's records (Clancy Brothers, John McCormick (we played his version of Kathleen Mauvorneen at my dad's memorial service in January), and Ruby Murray) and they are still my favorites.

Not really--we're going to our favorite Italian restaurant for dinner tonight!

13. Yes, quite a bit, in point of fact. =) Can't you picture me as an Irish girl in a movie? =D

14. Haha, no. But it is one of my dream destinations. =) (England and P.E.I. are the others. Haha, but you knew that.)

15. Ooh! Irish songs! I adore traditional Irish songs. Some of them are Endearing Young Charms, The Rose of Tralee, Shanagolden... I know there are others but I can't think of them right now, haha.

16. Well, I wear green but that's about it. ;-) And I go on your blog and take a quiz. Heehee.

I cannot begin to describe how I love these quizzes even if I do terrible at many of them.
I like your St. Patrick's Day blog look
I wanted to ask a couple period drama bloggers this: have you read any of Fanny Burney's works? I have read Evelina and love it.
Now my answers
1.c
2.d
3.b
4.c or a
5.c (Mr. Thornton brought Irish immigrant workers over to work in place of his striking mill workers)
6.d (the young lady of course being Jane Fairfax)
7.c
8.b
9.d
10.d I am going to go with this because of the name
11.b no idea
12.b, second guess is c
13. I am not sure; I had thought that I did but my grandmother found out that they were Scottish.
14. No, but I want to do so soon. If I am lucky I want to study abroad for winter break and go to London/Dublin.
15. I prefer the very old Celtic instrumental music.
16.No, and this is the first time I can remember ever intentionally wearing green. I really would like to do some special things in the future.

I am not going to attempt the quiz this time because I think my score would be quite shameful, but I will answer the last four questions with pleasure!

My family tree is more than half Irish and in fact two-thirds of my name (middle and last name) is Irish. We even have a family coat of arms, which is something I've always found quite fun. On my mother's side, Family Rumor hath that we are descendants of Brian Boru, first king of Ireland, but so far as I know there is nothing to substantiate that myth beside the fact that we come from O'Brien stock. :P (And O'Brien isn't my last name... just for the record.)

I have never been to Ireland, but I would looooooooove to visit there someday. Sigh.

Favorite Irish singer right now would definitely have to be the one and only Colm Wilkinson (or C.T. Wilkinson as he's known in his native land), but that may be because I'm slightly obsessed with his role as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. Heehee. Anyway, my other favorite singers would include Finbar Wright (and all the Irish Tenors) as well as the High Kings and the Clancy Brothers and Tommmy Makem. Mairi's Wedding, Will Ye Go Lassie Go, Danny Boy, Jennifer Gentle and The Fields of Athenry are my favorite Irish songs.

I didn't do anything in particular to celebrate St. Patty's Day today, but I did wear my favorite green blouse, does that count? :D

Ella,
You answered questions 2, 3, 5 and 10 correctly but #12 was incorrect.

I love Celtic Woman and Anuna! I'm a newer Anuna fan but I bought a CD recently and have really been enjoying their voices! Celtic Woman is an old favorite and always part of my St. Paddy's Day celebrations! :)

Melody,
Glad you like the green. I'm planning on changing it soon to something spring-y but the green will have to stay a bit longer.

Your answers for questions 3, 5, 6, 8 and 12 were correct! Unfortunately the others were incorrect.

Actually I can picture you as an Irish lassie. People often think of Irish folks having red hair but just like here more have our color. :)
Okay, so we're going to Ireland, just you and me - let's go! hehe
Oooh, I love Endearing Young Charms, such a sweet song! :)

Rachel Olivia,
I'm glad you enjoy these quizzes! :)
No, I haven't read any of Fanny Burney's works. I should like to try reading a few of her works because of the connection of them being mentioned in Jane Austen's novels.

You guessed the answers for questions 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10 and your firs guess for #12 first was right. But your guesses for questions 4, 7, 9 and 11 were incorrect. Thanks for playing and answering questions! :)

14. Not yet, but I've got a trip planned to Dublin at the end of May. Really looking forward to that, as you can underdstand!

15. I really love Anuna, I've seen them live twice now (they come to The Netherlands almost every year). I've been a fan of Riverdance as long as I can remember, but this year I discovered the smaller scale Irish dancing troupe Ragus, which I also saw live!

16. Read your blog ;-)

Your trip to Dublin sounds wonderful! I hope you have a very lovely time! :)
Anuna is a recently favorite of mine. That's so neat that you got to see them live! I haven't seen or listened to a lot of Riverdance but it's so much fun! I've never heard of Ragus, I'll have to look them up. Thanks for stopping by!
