| Jane Austen's Emma is an eponymous book because the title is the first name of the main character! |
e·pon·y·mous
adjective
- (of a person) giving their name to something. "the eponymous hero of the novel"
- (of a thing) named after a particular person. "Andy Griffith's eponymous hit TV series"
This game is all about books that are named after the main character! I can't claim to have thought up this game idea because I saw it originally on Jeopardy! but it was so cool that I just had to go in search of more eponymous titled books and there are surprisingly a lot of them! In this game I'll give you the last name and you give me the first name of the main character. Most of these are books that I would recommend (or at least recommend their movie adaptation) but some are not great.
To Play: Look at the last names below and guess the first names of the book title character. Leave your guesses in a comment and I'll respond with your score. Answers will be posted next weekend.
Scoring: Ten points for each correctly guessed first name.
