I've really been enjoying Charles Dickens stories quite a bit lately and I know The Muppet Christmas Carol isn't the closest adaptation but it's one movie that my family and I love to watch this time of year.
I'd call it "period" in the sense of Muppets dressed in Victorian costume. It may be a bit unconventional but the point of Dicken's novel comes across clearly and it's a great family film.
The bittersweet tale of Scrooge's love Belle is portrayed very sweetly with a lovely song "When Love is Gone".
Humor, singing and dancing abound in this family friendly funny film. Just another of the good things in life that make you laugh and cry at the same time. If you haven't seen it yet I suggest a good dose of Christmas cheer! :)

Haha! We love this version of A Christmas Carol too! :-)
Oh, and I should add: Merry Christmas to you and your family! :D
This is a fun movie we like to watch at Christmas-time, too. =) (I know this post was from aaaaages ago...but oh well! haha)
Every once in a while I randomly start singing "It's in the singing of a street corner choir, it's going home and getting warm by the fire..."
Melody, I think we have way too much in common! hee hee :)
My family and I try to watch this film every December, it's still a favorite and my sister and I love singing the songs (or what we remember of them)! I'm very glad you like it too! :)
I agree. =D
It's a fun movie to quote. And the rat always makes me laugh. tehe
Have you seen the Christmas Carol with George C. Scott (from 1983, or 1980-something)? It's my favorite version.
I don't think I've seen that version of A Christmas Carol, or if I have I don't remember it. I'll have to look it up. I enjoyed reading the book last December and have been looking for a good adaptation so I'll have to try the one you suggested! :)
Let me know if you do! =)
Did you notice that young adult Scrooge on this one, is the same person as played Frank Churchill on the Emma with Kate Beckinsale? It made me laugh so much when I noticed that last year! Tehe!
"'Tis the season to be jolly and joyous, fa la la..."
