I Just Discovered...

...that Hallmark has made a sequel to one of my favorite holiday films! An Old-Fashioned Christmas is premiering this weekend on the Hallmark Channel! This is filmed as a sequel to Louisa May Alcott's An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving which has become a standard Thanksgiving film that my family enjoys watching each year. Thanks to It's A Wonderful Movie blog (see their post here) for bringing this exciting news to my attention!

An Old-Fashioned Christmas will continue the story of Matilda "Tilly" Basset as she travels with her grandmother Isabella Caldwell to Europe. The two ladies travel to Ireland where Tilly looks forward to meeting her paternal grandfather Sean Basset and Isabella tries to help her granddaughter with her writings by introducing her to writer (and an old beau) the Earl of Shannon. They find the Earl and his ancestral home in shambles. Lady Shannon forms a plan to marry her charming son Cameron to Tilly and her grandmother's money. A visit from Tilly's beloved Gideon "Gad" may be the perfect Christmas present to set things to right!

I'm glad to see seasoned actress Jacqueline Bisset reprise the role of Tilly's grandmother Isabella Caldwell.

Tilly herself will be portrayed by a different face, actress Catherine Steadman. Catherine is a British born actress who I enjoyed very much as Julia Bertram in the 2007 adaptation of Mansfield Park (although I still wish he had been Fanny Price instead). A very pretty young lady who seems to do well with the American accent!

Actor Kristopher Turner reprises his role as Gideon Hopkins, Tilly's beloved childhood friend.

Leon Ockenden as charming rogue Cameron and Marion O'Dwyer as Lady Shannon.

The Costumes look delightful! Beautiful colors and patterns!

I found this trailer for the film on YouTube:

There's also this lovely Behind the Scenes video, but be forewarned there are a few spoilers included! :)

Doesn't it look interesting?

If you get the Hallmark Channel I hope that you will check out An Old-Fashioned Christmas. If you see it let me know what you think! I don't currently have cable but hope to see the film soon and hopefully it will be released on DVD.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Very Truly Your's,

Oh Laurie, this looks so good! Thanks for mentioning it! I still haven't watched the first one which I've been meaning to do ever since you recommended it!
I guess it's only fitting that I associate these "old-fashioned" movies with you since your blog's name matches quite nicely!

Oh my goodness! I am so glad you found my web-site ~ so I could find you, too!

I just signed up as a Follower! I love everything about your blog and I'm so glad you discovered An Old Fashioned Christmas on mine!

The movie looks wonderful, doesn't it? We don't receive new period dramas very often - so we must soak them up when we do!

God bless & Merry Christmas!!!
