Jane Austen Birthday Week!

Yet Another Period Drama Blog

Jane Austen's birthday is right around the corner (December 16th to be exact) and Miss Dashwood is celebrating her 236th Birthday with a week long event!

All next week at Yet Another Period Drama Blog she'll be posting "feature posts about JA herself, quizzes and games, fun challenges for YOU, a guest post from my charming sister the Anne-girl, and possibly some guest posts from the lovely Melody of Regency Delight"!

Miss Dashwood has also issued three challenges which I will most gladly be joining it.
For The Jane Austen Book Challenge I'm planning on re-reading her unfinished work The Watsons.
In The Film Challenge I'll be watching a Jane Austen film adaptations with my younger sister, one that she hasn't seen before (or at least doesn't remember all of).
And for The Biographical Challenge I'm going to re-watch The Real Jane Austen (or maybe another documentary, not sure yet)

I'm very excited to join in the fun and celebrate our dear Jane Austen!
Head on over to Yet Another Period Drama Blog for more information.

Very Truly Your's,

Thank you so much for posting about this, Miss Laurie! I'm looking forward to it immensely.
The copy of Lady Susan that I ordered from my library also includes Sanditon and The Watsons--so I may be joining you in reading The Watsons if I have time!

I still can't decide what I'll do for the movie part...surprisingly, I've watched all the JA movies with my dad that he'd want to see (and he is agreeable)/I'd want him to see, and almost all of the said with my brother... I've been thinking about watching Miss Austen Regrets, or at least part of it...but...I don't exactly want to. :P Does it have anything inappropriate in it?

Miss Dashwood,
You're very welcome! I hope you do read The Watsons. I've been reading it the last two afternoons and taking time to write and really think about the story and what I've discovered is quite delightful! Sanditon is interesting too because it's quite different in the setting from the other novels.

Melody,
Miss Austen Regrets doesn't have any inappropriate scenes as far as I can recall. Towards the end when JA gets sick there is one scene where she and Cassandra talk and Jane's shift is rather low but they don't concentrate on that the whole scene. I actually quite like Miss Austen Regrets but I know others don't like it very much.

Thanks Pallavi!
